STEVE'S POND

Number of Accesses since September 2, 1996:

My mother had been after us
for years to build a pond in our backyard. I didn't think much of the idea
until my wife asked me to go by the Highlands Garden Center in Littleton,
Colorado. She had already been by the Englewood Garden Center and Wilmore
Nursery & Garden Center and picked-up a few water garden books. I got very
interested when I found out you could raise fish in a Garden Pond. This was a
birthday present for my wife, but now it appears, I am the one watching,
tending, and being consumed by the lure of the pond.
I have found a great
Watergardening and Koi Site on the net. You can find me and other ponders from
all over the country discussing different ponding questions each day. This site
is courtesy of the "Koiphen.com. Go to

there.

Lower Pond September 2006
We made a few mistakes and
didn't ask enough questions. Please follow the following links for more
information on our pond.
My second pond was started
in March of 1997. This file is fairly large but does show many progressive
photos of the pond building. Not being satisfied and not being able to leave
the ponds as is, I enlarged my smaller pond in the spring of 1999. In the
spring of 2001 I again enlarged my lower pond. I took out the bog area. The
plants really took over in the bog. I decided to put bog plants back into
containers and they now reside in the pond and also to the left of the lower
pond in a dry spring bed. The bog plants in this area are either in shallow
preformed containters or in areas I lined with excess EPDM liner. For 2004 I
plan on adding a Turtle Pond in this area and enlarging train
layout.
